Description about the Work-camp: This work-camp is a project of a group of Medical and Psychology students of University of Nottingham, and SCI played a role by leading the camp and helping the students to finish their project successfully and there by contributing for the development of Sri Lanka.
Two volunteers form Spain, and more than 12 local volunteers were involved with the work-camp along with the students of University of Nottingham.
This work-camp was led by Johannes Kiefl, a German Long Term Volunteer, who has been working as a volunteer of SCI SL for more than Seven months.
Started on: 1st July, 2011
Types of Work: Decorating/Re-constructing a District Hospital called Mampitiya. Making/repairing the fence to protect the hospital premises, Painting the Hospital Buildings & the stuff belong to the hospital (Beds, Benches, Tables & Chairs) , Building an incinerator for disposing the non - organic hospital waste, Repairing the existing pipe line for better water supply , Constructing a butterfly park , Building an organic home garden & Making the environment beautiful.

Places visited: To make the work-camp more interesting, SCI organized a number of trips to the Temple of tooth Kandy, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Ancient Buddhist temples of Lankathilaka, Gadaladeniya ,Embekka, Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and the University of Peradeniya, Hanthana mountain, Hindu shrines, Udawatta Kele & the meditation center, Buddhist temples Visiting Daulagla Flower farm, Visiting traditional industries of glassware, Visiting Tea Factory, Conducting Cultural events ( traditional dance, music), etc.
"Sri Lankan Society, University of Nottingham donated 528,000 LKR to the Blue Rose School."
